Tennessee 24 - Alabama 0
Oct. 17, 1970 at Knoxville

A record Neyland Stadium crowd - 64,947- was thrilled by a pass defense exhibition that was unparalleled in Tennessee history as the Vols whipped Alabama 24-0, in Bill Battle's first confrontation with his college coach, "Bear" Bryant.
Alabama came out throwing, 51 times in all, but UT defenders came down with the ball 8 times, a school record. Three of them were nabbed by Tim Priest, who teamed up with Bobby Majors to give the Vols a matchless pair of safeties.
The performance earned Priest the UPI's defensive player of the week award, the same accolade which was won by Majors the previous week for his play against Georgia Tech. The shutout was the first suffered by Alabama in 115 games, the streak reaching back to the 1959 season.
